Built in 1924 in York, Pa., the engine on the March/April 2002 Iron-Men Album cover belongs to Todd L. Miller and his son, Lavere Miller, of Glen Rock, Pa.

The engine is a 15-45 HP Model K, serial number 18083, a single-cylinder, double-geared, independent-mounted traction engine used for general work.

RELATED CONTENT

Its boiler was made for a working pressure of 150 psi and conforms to A.S.M.E. standard code. The engine is a side crank, plain slide valve with solid forged, balanced crank and heavy flywheel with Farquhar’s improved single eccentric reverse.

This engine has spent most of its life in Pennsylvania, residing now in its home county of York, Pa.

You can see this engine in action every year at the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Assn. Annual Show, which will hold its 44th show this year in Harrisburg, Pa., Aug. 25 to Sept. 2, 2002. IMA
